2023 has been a fantastic year for The Sewing Studio Isle of Wight and primarily due to the amazing support from all of the sewists following our ventures.

Thank you so much xx

I have been teaching now for 13 years this February and I have met so many brilliant people. Some are still attending my classes. Not because they need to but because they want to......I think lol

Its a weekly space to dedicate to yourself and your sewing projects.

In such a busy life we all need a space we can forget the 'stuff' going on and just enjoy being in a room with like minded people, motivating and encouraging.

We also learn a bit too......

It doesn't matter how long we have been doing this sewing lark, there is always something new to learn or try.

You don't always enjoy the process but it's always worth trying it and seeing if it's for you. I know I have personally had a massive year of learning new things.

I was super lucky to be offered the opportunity to become the dealership for Brother Sewing Machines.

A superb company who have a varied selection of easy to use, reliable and exciting machines and I now have access to using these every day.

I hadn't really thought about this change of direction but it was a 'no brainer' to agree and it is just going to get even more exciting in 2024.

I now have the space to really show them off to their full potential to anyone thinking of investing in their own sewing machine or overlocker. Some may be considering starting a business, some just for fun. what ever the reason, The Sewing Studio is the place to visit to inspire and help on your 'journey'.

My bridal studio was ideally placed to add the new stock but I did require a bit more room. Sewing people never have enough space......

The unit next door was free and is absolutely perfect for this new area.

We have the machines permanently set up for you to try and compare, haberdashery and fabric to order.

There are inspirational gifts to decorate your craft/sewing rooms and gorgeous merchandise to wear whilst you sew away.

The space has a full height cutting table ready for you to hire to save your back, knees and carpets........a sewing machine to hire too, to sew in peace away from home distractions or bring your own and let us give you some guidance.

Classes and workshops are proving really popular and I am always thinking of new exciting topics to bring to you but will also always have the important basic ones too.

Overlocker, basic beginners and other slightly more advanced sessions too.

To ensure there is the back up support for you and your machines, we have John Hyde who is the most experienced and clever machine engineer. Even Brother said he is the best they have. How lucky are we?

He will be planning some surgery sessions in the new year for you to bring your machine over, let him cast an eye over it and see if he can remedy any small issues you may have. Date TBC but I will let you know as soon as he has recovered from his New Year celebrations.

The best part of the additional business has been the need for a buddy to help me out. I needed someone I could trust, who would be as passionate as me and see my vision of what I wanted to bring to the studio.

My very good friend Kim Filby was the only woman for the job.

I have known her for many years and just love the bones of this woman. Bonkers but totally on my wave length. The best people are.

She has the style to bring to the studio on a daily basis. You may have seen her in her 50's dresses. I think there will be more in the new year.

She has embraced the role magnificently and together we will be growing The Sewing Studio in 2024.

All our love
