PROFESSIONAL BRA MAKING COURSE
A chance to make a bra that fits you perfectly with Charlotte, a professional bra maker
Service Description
Learn how to make and fit your own underwired bra. Working in small groups over 6 sessions, Charlotte will guide you through the mechanics of a bra, help you understand why your bra doesn't fit and start you off on a path to sewing your own better fitting bras. At the end of the 6 sessions students will take away a working toile, a self sewn bra and a modified copy of their pattern to make further bras. underwired bra course runs over 6 weeks with each session 3 hours (9.30-12.30). In advance we will send out a questionnaire and an information booklet as well as ask for measurements - how to take these is out lined in the booklet - this gives a starting point ahead of the first session. Day 1 - Measuring and we talk about pattern selection for body shape, check measurements and fit underwires. We will also cut out the patterns. Day 2 - We sew up a fitting band and make any necessary adjustments Day 3 - We look at the cups and add them to the fitting band - again making any adjustments Day 4 - Final tweaks to the toile Day 5 - Choose our kits and begin sewing the final version Day 6 - Finish the final version and make any other adjustments to the paper pattern so the students can go forward with a well fitting bra pattern. About Charlotte I was born and grew up on the island before leaving for art college way back in 1992. My Nana was a seamstress and my Auntie taught Home Ed at Nodehill School (which was on Church Litten in Newport). Nearly 40 years later, and with 10 years bra making experience I started Wishanger Bespoke, where I specialise in custom lingerie to meet all sorts of client needs - be they size, shape, surgery, special occasions or just because you want something luxurious. I regularly teach at Miss Maker in Hampshire, as well as from my home studio in Wishanger near Farnham. I have contributed for a number of years to The International Bra Sewing Bee and various other forums. My work has been exhibited at The Good Clothes Show and featured in the book Reloveable - What to do with your Wedding Dress, by Caroline Arthur, as well as publications including The Daily Express, The Guildford Magazine and Surrey Downs Magazine. My biggest claim to fame is that Patrick Grant of The Great British Sewing Bee has had his hands on my knickers and bras - sadly I wasn't there at the time. Please bring your sewing machine and a selection of fine spare needles. Scissors, pins, tape measure, seam ripper ( Hopefully you won't need to use it )
